1965 Sonny and Cher

Many young people may not know about Sonny and Cher, but there is no way they haven't heard one of their songs. They were a husband and wife duo who recorded the song, “I got you babe” in 1965, bursting them into stardom. They appeared on American Bandstand in 1965 - which back in the day, was a big deal. It was a performance show hosted by Dick Clark that featured teenagers dancing as musical acts performed.

Their romance wasn't as strong as their song “I got you babe” would suggest. They had some struggles due to the fact that they met when he was 27 and she was 16. In 1975 they went through a very nasty and very public divorce. Sonny Bono would die tragically decades later during a now infamous skiing accident where he ran into a tree.
