Some of the biggest names scheduled to perform at the event weren't able to get there for a number of reasons. John Lennon was refused an entry visa from Canada by the US Government for reasons that were never clear but were believed to be politically motivated. The Jeff Beck Group, in a crazy move, thought it would be appropriate to break up just weeks before the festival.
