Jerry 'The King' Lawler's championship reign in his home state of Tennessee allowed him to become a regional superstar to the point he didn't need to crossover to the WWF/E until the latter years of his career. As a member of the American Wrestling Association, Lawler is a 52-time AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion, a ten-time AWA Southern Tag Team Champion, two-time WCWA World Heavyweight Champion, and so much more.
The King has an endless amount of accolades to list but he's also made himself out to be one of the greatest heel announcers the WWF/E has ever seen. His unique voice helped shape an era throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Jerry 'The King' Lawler was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007 and he barely had to set foot in the ring. However, he did suffer a heart attack in 2012 while doing color commentary ringside, since then he's taken a step back from the wrestling realm.
