10. Refined Sugars

Much like refined white flour, refined sugars are also a no-go if you're trying to avoid cancer. The reason sugar tastes so good is because we were supposed to recognize sweet fruits as safe to eat back in the caveman days. Now that has been taken to extremes in modern times. Eating an apple is great because it's natural sugars mixed with fiber. You also wouldn't binge eat ten apples. Refined sugar, however, is another story.

Found in almost every packaged food, refined sugar is notorious for spikes in insulin that can eventually lead to diabetes. It also promotes the growth of cancer cells, as they seem to feed on sugars, particularly high fructose corn syrup, which is prevalent in cereals, sodas, juices, candy, cookies, and many other sweet things. It's time to start cutting back on the sugar.

The culinary critic Egon Ronay assured his taste buds: The famous Hungarian culinary critic has insured his taste buds since 1957, for the amount of 400 000 USD. An original insurance policy which allows him to cover his sense of taste without which he will no longer be able to practice his job.
