Released in 1997, My Best Friend's Wedding was one of the movies of the decade. Starring both Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz, the cast was first class. But the storyline was even better - nothing like this had ever been done before. Roberts's character, Julianne, has a long-term pact with her college best friend, Michael (played by Dermot Mulroney). They agreed that if neither of them was married by the time they turned 28, they would marry each other.
A few weeks before turning 28, Julianne receives a call from Michael announcing his engagement to 20-year-old rich girl, Kimmy (played by Diaz). Julianne then decides she's in love with Michael and does everything she can to sabotage the wedding. Of course, there are plenty of disasters and dramas along the way, but for the most part, it's a feel-good film with an unpredictable ending.
