Ceballos played four full years of collegiate basketball at the University of Ventura (1986-1988) and the University of Cal State Fullerton (1988-1990). In 1990, Ceballos was selected 48th overall in the second round of the NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns. The 6'6 small forward went on to be a contributing member of multiple NBA teams including the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Detroit Pistons before taking his talents overseas.
